“Ariella is now the Power in Carnaby Street”

Punch magazine was first published on July 17, 1841. Founded by wood engraver Ebenezer Landells and writer Henry Mayhew Punch was designed to be less bitter than other British publications and with a higher literary standard.

In the 1970’s Ariella was described by the magazine as, “The Power in Carnaby Street”, the heart of the iconic London fashion scene.
